Ear Reduction ‘Otoplasty’- for Adults or Children: Enhance Your Image with Cosmetic Surgery

Otoplasty, is a cosmetic surgery to change the appearance of the external ear or ears. Otoplasty can bring the ears closer to the head (ear pinning) or even reducing the size of very big ears, or reshaping various bends in the cartilage.

This plastic surgery procedure can greatly enhance a person’s appearance and self-esteem whether they’re a child or an adult.

The otoplasty process begins with a consultation with Dr. Jervis. He will go over your ear surgery options and discuss your goals. Detailed pre-operative information will also be discussed.

Postoperative ear surgery patients experience very few side effects. Recovery from ear surgery can take up to six weeks. Adults can typically return to work a few days after the procedure.

While there will be a faint scar after surgery, the scar’s visibility will fade over time. As the scar heals, its location behind the ear makes it unnoticeable.

The sooner a child undergoes otoplasty, usually the less teasing and embarrassment he or she will experience growing up.

After completing the otoplasty procedure, Dr. Jervis will place a large bandage around your head to promote proper healing. After a few days, the bandage will be removed and you will be supplied with a lighter dressing, similar to a headband.
