Eyelid Lift or Blepharoplasty
Eyelid Lifts are done for fatty bulges of upper and/ or lower eyelids, to reduce folds of skin for the upper lids, and to tighten the skin of the lower lids. As an isolated procedure it is almost invariably done under local anesthesia (and sedation) as an outpatient, frequently in the office. It is commonly done with other procedures such as a face and neck lift, or occasionally with browlift, chemical peel, dermabrasion, and most recently by laserabrasion for smoothing fine wrinkles. For some patients the fatty bulges can be removed from inside the lower eyelids, and the external wrinkles erased with the laser so there are no scars on the lower eyelids.
